STONEGATE DEVELOPS NEW IMPROVED GAS DETECTION SYSTEM
Leeds-based Stonegate Instruments has developed a new improved Gas Detection System for the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.
The new system has been carefully designed to detect a wide variety of popular refrigerants including CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs. It can accommodate up to 24 remote refrigerant sensors and uses a compact central monitor unit with flexible wiring for easy installation. In addition, both audible and visual alerts for alarm conditions and sensors can be included.
The sensors are arranged in three zones of eight channels with four relay outputs for signalling an alarm, one for each zone. These relay outputs de-energise when any sensor in the corresponding zone signals an alarm and a main alarm relay will also de-energise if any sensor in any zone signals an alarm. In addition, each sensor contains a control for users to adjust the sensitivity according to their own individual requirements.
The control unit is fitted with a mute button, which when pressed during an alarm state, will mute the sounder and the main alarm relay will be re-energised, but not the alarm relays.
The muted sensors will then remain muted and unable to activate an alarm until they detect that the gas leak has been cleared. Sensors that were not in the alarm state when mute button is pressed remain unaffected and can still cause an alarm. A zone alarm relay will remain de-energised until all sensors in that zone have been cleared.
Stonegate's new Gas Detection System has also been designed to accommodate a logger function that can record one week of logs for each of the 24 channels.
Stonegate Instruments' managing director Shaun Evers said: 'We fully expect our new improved system to be a popular addition to our range of refrigerant solutions, as more and more companies consider the impact they are having on the environment. Installing an efficient refrigerant gas detection system is one way to significantly reduce leakages as well as saving money.'
